G20 delegates visited Sarnath after a successful Varanasi meeting

Following the conclusion of the G20 Development Ministers’ conference in Varanasi on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, the G20 delegates traveled to the holy city of Sarnath in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. One of them was S. Jaishankar. Foreign delegations visited historical sites including monuments, the Dhamek Stupa, a hermitage, a museum, and more during their tour. The Dhamek Stupa, which was constructed during the Gupta era, was explained to the international delegates by the 115 guides designated by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

 Additionally, a cultural program was planned.The G20 Development Ministers’ Conference in Varanasi adopted an ambitious seven-year action plan and a document to increase cooperation and partnership on sustainable lifestyles for meeting climate change goals.

 The outcome document will be presented to G20 leaders at the G20 summit in New Delhi. Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said “Discussions were held among the G-20 countries regarding lifestyle for environmental protection. Wherein, India’s lifestyle was presented as a model. During the meeting, 9 principles of lifestyle were decided.”
