India’s G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG) concluded its meeting, along with celebrating International Yoga Day at the Coast Temple in Mahabalipuram. The G20 representatives and members of the National Institute of Siddha participated in revitalizing yoga practice. After the conclusion of the meeting, Delegates attended a cultural program showcasing Mahabalipuram’s rich heritage.
The last day of the meeting was focused on capacity building of the ecosystem for financing sustainable development, mobilizing resources for climate change, and addressing ecological issues. Updated recommendations were presented to delegates, discussing barriers to climate-related investments. On the sidelines of the meeting, a workshop was organized wherein, Ms. Geetu Joshi, Adviser, Ministry of Finance, Govt.
of India, said that “Achieving the 2030 climate targets will be essential to understanding the financial risks, opportunities, and impacts associated with activities.” During the workshop, deliberations on how to mobilize climate and social finance to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) took place.
