Following Chhath Puja, Siliguri Municipality promptly cleaned the Mahananda River

Siliguri Municipality was quick to clean the Mahananda river after Chhath Puja. After Bihar, Chhath Puja is celebrated in Siliguri on the largest scale. Thousands of devotees throng the Mahananda river for Chhath Puja. Also, the Chhath Vrats make artificial ghats on the banks of the Mahananda river with banana trees, flowers, and other materials. As soon as the process of puja is over, the devotees leave everything in the river. And Siliguri Municipality is always willing to remove all those materials and return the Mahananda River back to its previous form.

Janjal Division Mayor Parishad Manik Dey, along with other officials, got down to cleaning the Mahananda river. In this context, Manik Dey said that about 80% of Municipality cleaners are busy during Chhath Puja. So there is a lot of hindrance in this cleaning work. But they are ready to overcome this obstacle and keep the Mahananda river healthy, besides keeping Orad clean. He said, “Most of the fire workers participate in Chhath Puja. So not everyone is available for this cleaning job. But we take all measures to keep the river clean.
