The holy bath has started again at the Mahakumbh Mela. Saints are taking a dip one by one in the Triveni Sangam. ‘Flower shower’ is going on from the sky. Late at night, a stampede occurred during the ‘Shahi Snan’ on the occasion of the Mauni Amavasya Tithi at the Kumbh Mela. Many people died in it. The aftermath of the disaster has not yet subsided. However, the fairgrounds are gradually returning to normal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences over the disaster at the Kumbh Mela from a meeting in Delhi. He also said that the situation at Triveni Sangam is normal for now.
The Yogi Adityanath administration of Uttar Pradesh had planned a ‘flower shower’ from the sky during the ‘Shahi Snan’ on the Mauni Amavasya. After the disaster on Tuesday night, the bath was temporarily stopped. The Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and the inner Saraswati, was emptied. When the situation normalized, the bath started again. Flower petals are being scattered at Triveni Sangam by helicopter.
Lakhs of pilgrims had gathered at Triveni Sangam on Tuesday on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. The crowd started increasing from the night. It is alleged that the barricade at the ghat broke due to the pressure of the excessive crowd. Many fell. Many people were trampled on in the rush. The pilgrims were rescued in serious condition and taken to the hospital. However, the administration has admitted that many died due to trampling. Although no specific number has been officially released in this regard yet.
