Flipkart’s role deepens in building India’s future-ready skills ecosystem with NCVET, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship

In a major push toward strengthening India’s skill development framework, Flipkart on December 19 signed an agreement with the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) to design nationally recognised, industry-led skilling pathways for the fast-growing e-commerce and logistics sector. The signing took place at Kaushal Bhawan in New Delhi in the presence of senior officials of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and NCVET.

The agreement aligns with the government’s Skill India Mission and will enable Flipkart to contribute operational expertise to improve training, assessment and certification processes. Flipkart is set to become the first e-commerce organisation in India to receive NCVET recognition as an Awarding Body (Dual), allowing it to design programs aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).

The partnership may support job creation in e-commerce hubs like Siliguri, where rapid expansion in warehousing and logistics has increased demand for trained workers. Standardised training and certification could improve employability for youths seeking opportunities evolving market landscape. Speaking at the event, Flipkart Group’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Rajneesh Kumar said the collaboration would help develop “job-ready talent” and strengthen the digital economy. MSDE Secretary Debashree Mukherjee said industry participation was critical to ensure skilling frameworks remain relevant and credible.
