Flipkart announced the tenth edition of its flagship Samarth initiative sale, ‘Crafted by Bharat,’ scheduled for August 15 to celebrate India’s 79th Independence Day. The bi-annual event will showcase over 1.4 lakh handcrafted products from more than 2,200 artisans, weavers, self-help groups (SHGs), and women entrepreneurs across India.
Featuring diverse traditional art forms such as Warli, Patachitra, Madhubani, Pichwai, terracotta, and regional wooden crafts, the sale aims to promote India’s rich cultural heritage while supporting livelihoods in underserved communities. The event includes collections from state handicraft bodies, NGOs, and regional businesses spanning categories like furniture, home décor, apparel, and kitchenware. Women entrepreneurs from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like Bhadohi, Hathras, Madurai, and Kannauj are prominently featured, with over 100 new sellers added this year. Flipkart Samarth’s comprehensive support offers pan-India reach, competitive pricing, and dedicated assistance to empower MSMEs and indigenous enterprises.
The sale is expected to resonate strongly with the city’s growing demand for authentic handicrafts and home décor, as consumers increasingly seek culturally rooted products. Local artisans and traders anticipate an uptick in orders through Flipkart’s platform, expanding market access beyond traditional retail. Rajneesh Kumar, Flipkart’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, emphasized the initiative’s role in preserving India’s cultural identity and enhancing economic opportunities for artisans nationwide.
