Flipkart, in partnership with the Government of West Bengal, conducted a dedicated workshop for artisans and weavers in Kalna. As part of the ongoing Flipkart Samarth initiative, the session offered over 50 participants hands-on training in product listing, logistics management, and leveraging online marketplaces for business scalability. Key officials, including Shri Shubham Aggarwal (SDO, Kalna), Shri Krishna Chandra Munda (Deputy Magistrate), and senior representatives from handloom and khadi departments, attended the event. The workshop focused on streamlining access to Flipkart’s platform, empowering artisans to connect with national consumers and build sustainable digital enterprises.
Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group, commented on the collaboration, saying,“Our partnership with the Government of West Bengal underscores Flipkart’s dedication to promoting digital inclusivity across India. Through this collaboration, we aim to unlock greater economic opportunities for artisans in Kalna, nurturing a new generation of entrepreneurs empowered by technology. The Samarth program is rooted in the vision of bridging the digital divide for underserved communities – enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods through e-commerce. By providing guidance, resources, and support, Flipkart is committed to integrating rural enterprises into the larger narrative of India’s economic growth.”
this initiative is expected to act as a catalyst for traditional industries. Known for its handloom and handicraft clusters, Malda’s artisan community can now leverage Flipkart’s reach to diversify market access and drive revenue growth beyond local boundaries. Flipkart Samarth, launched in 2019, continues to integrate rural producers into India’s booming digital commerce ecosystem.
