Flipkart, India’s prominent e-commerce giant, marked the 5-year anniversary of its Samarth program with a high-profile event focusing on empowering artisans, weavers, SHGs, and rural entrepreneurs. The celebration, which saw participation from over 250 industry leaders and dignitaries including Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development, highlighted Flipkart’s commitment to elevating India’s cultural heritage and entrepreneurial spirit.
A key highlight was the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Flipkart’s Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). This collaboration under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0 aims to upskill thousands of youth in e-commerce and supply chain sectors, providing a comprehensive training program that combines classroom learning with hands-on industry experience.
The event also introduced the ‘Samarth storefront’ on Flipkart’s app, providing artisans and MSMEs nationwide access to a larger market. In Siliguri , Flipkart’s Samarth program is poised to significantly benefit local artisans and small businesses by offering them a platform to reach a broader audience. This digital integration will help Siliguri’s craftsmen showcase their unique products to millions, fostering economic growth and market expansion in the region.
