Flipkart Samarth boosts artisan economy with over 1.8 million livelihoods supported

Celebrating World Artisan Day, Flipkart highlighted the transformative impact of its flagship initiative, Flipkart Samarth, which has empowered over 1.8 million livelihoods and preserved more than 100 traditional art forms in the past six years. The program, aimed at supporting India’s artisans, weavers, and entrepreneurs, now boasts over 2,000 active sellers and provides digital training, skilling, and national market access to over 500 million customers.

Success stories like Warraque Ahmed’s Dujjana Silk Emporium in Varanasi, Ashim Kumar Das’ Potli by Scarpa Italia in Kolkata, and Om Ahuja’s Gir Honey in Gujarat underscore the initiative’s reach. From reviving Banarasi silks to creating handcrafted bags and scaling sustainable honey production, these entrepreneurs are redefining India’s traditional business landscape through digital platforms.

With a 34% growth in artisan participation, Flipkart Samarth continues to bridge India’s cultural heritage with modern retail, fostering inclusive economic growth.
