Flipkart, a leading e-commerce giant, has joined hands with the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Kalyani, West Bengal, to launch a Center of Excellence (CoE) lab under its Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA). This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), aims to upskill youth for careers in the burgeoning supply chain industry.
The CoE lab will feature classrooms and simulation setups to train candidates in roles such as Picker, Putter, Packer, and Data Entry Operator. Participants completing the course will receive free certification and undertake 45 days of On-The-Job-Training (OJT) or Industry Exposure (IE) at a Flipkart facility. In 2024, SCOA trained 4,200 candidates, including 826 women, reinforcing its commitment to skill development and diversity.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the supply chain ecosystem in Siliguri, a key logistics hub. By providing a skilled workforce, the program addresses the needs of local businesses and ensures seamless e-commerce operations in the region, enhancing economic opportunities for the market. Flipkart Senior VP Hemant Badri and ITI Kalyani Principal Jyotirmay Chatterjee lauded the partnership for its potential to bridge skill gaps and drive innovation in India’s e-commerce supply chain sector.
