Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, today announced significant progress in its efforts to drive inclusive growth and digital empowerment in West Bengal. With over 4.2 lakh sellers onboarded and more than 1 lakh direct and indirect jobs created, Flipkart has emerged as a key enabler of economic development across the state. The platform has reported a 70% increase in seller onboarding and a 150% year-on-year growth in listings, with categories such as kids’ clothing, women’s ethnic wear, fashion wearables, and food & nutrition witnessing strong demand from cities like Kolkata, Howrah, Asansol, Durgapur, Kharagpur, and Siliguri.
Known for its traditional crafts and agro-based economy, the region is seeing rising participation from artisans and entrepreneurs, particularly in apparel and food categories. Flipkart’s training workshops and Samarth program have helped local sellers access national markets and generate sustainable livelihoods.
Flipkart’s infrastructure in the state includes over 4.1 million sq. ft. of operational space, multiple fulfillment and distribution centers, and strategic partnerships with the MSME and Minority Affairs Departments. With programs like Samarth and Samarth Krishi, Flipkart continues to promote digital inclusion, rural empowerment, and eco-conscious entrepreneurship across West Bengal.
