Despite the cold, the crowd of pilgrims is increasing at the Mahakumbh. Lakhs of people from India and abroad are coming to Prayagraj to take a dip in the confluence of three rivers – Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. ‘Mouni Amavasya’ is just around the corner. A large crowd will gather to take a holy dip on that day, claims the Uttar Pradesh administration. However, those who have planned to come to Prayagraj by plane should be careful. Passengers claim that airlines have increased the airfares in one go.
The Mahakumbh has started from January 13. The Prayagraj administration claims that more than 12 crore people have come to the Mahakumbh so far. January 29 is ‘Mouni Amavasya’. The local administration claims that a large crowd will gather at the Mahakumbh on that day. Many have planned to go to Prayagraj by plane. But the airfares of various airlines have made them worried. According to information from a travel portal called ‘Skyscanner’, the fares of Delhi-Prayagraj flights have increased rapidly. Till Monday morning, the one-way fare on this route was more than 21 thousand. The price of a flight ticket from Mumbai to Prayagraj is 22 thousand to 60 thousand. Passengers coming from Bengaluru to Prayagraj will have to pay 26 thousand to 48 thousand rupees!
Not only during Mahakumbh, but also during the festive season, the flight fares keep increasing like this. Which has become one of the reasons for the problems of passengers. A proposal was also made in the parliamentary panel to formulate guidelines to control the sudden increase in flight fares. DGCA took action against the increase in flight fares for Mahakumbh. They have ordered all the airlines in the country to control the fares. DGCA has also approved increasing the number of flights to Prayagraj to meet the demand. 81 additional flights are operating in Prayagraj in January.
