On November 24, veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, affectionately referred to as “He-Man” and “Dharam Paaji,” departed from this life at the age of 89. After battling respiratory issues, the well-known actor passed away at his Mumbai home. Earlier this month, he was hospitalized to Breach Candy Hospital for medical care. Fans and the film industry nationwide are devastated by the news of his passing. Colleagues, friends, and well-wishers started showing up at his home to offer their respects after the announcement.
Born Dharmendra Singh Deol, Dharmendra made his film debut in 1960 and went on to become one of the most beloved and adaptable performers in Indian cinema. Over the course of his incredible career, which spanned more than 60 years and included appearances in over 300 movies, he won people over with his innate charisma, strong on-screen persona, and versatility in both romantic and action roles. In addition to his parts in Phool Aur Patthar, Seeta Aur Geeta, Chupke Chupke, Dharam Veer, and Pratigya, he is best known for his famous performances as Veeru in the timeless classic Sholay.
In 1997, he received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. He received the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honor, in 2012. Both audiences and critics praised Dharmendra’s performances in recent films, like Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. His next movie Ikkis, in which he portrays actor Agastya Nanda’s grandfather, will now be recognized as his last on-screen role.
As arrangements for his final ceremonies began, his wife Hema Malini and their daughter Esha Deol came at the Pawan Hans Cremation Center. A number of Bollywood actors and family members, including sons Sunny and Bobby Deol and daughter Ahana, were spotted coming to pay their last respects.
