Employees from Pakyong, Sikkim, excel at a badminton event honoring statehood

A thrilling badminton competition was held recently in Sikkim’s Pakyong district to commemorate the 50th anniversary of sovereignty. The District Administrative Center and the Pakyong District Zilla Panchayat organized the Pakyong District Employees Badminton Tournament at the Multi-Purpose Community Hall in Pakyong. The event was enthusiastically sponsored by the Badminton Association of Pakyong (BAP). Zilla Panchayat members and government workers from all over the district came together for the competition.

They participated fervently in a number of divisions, including Men’s Doubles for Players Over 40 and 50, Open Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. L.B. Das, the esteemed MLA and advisor to multiple agencies, including Land Revenue, IPR, and Information Technology, was the main guest and honored the occasion. Also in attendance were Zilla Adhakshya Laden Lhamu Bhutia, Zilla Up-Adhakshya Prabha Pradhan, and District Collector Agwane Rohan Ramesh.

Members of the Badminton Association, other government representatives, and several Zilla Panchayat members from various Pakyong District communities enthusiastically and supportively participated in the event. The players’ talents and teamwork were remarkable, and the competition was lively. The Chief Guest presented prizes to the victors, adding even greater significance to the event for everyone. MLA L.B. Das participated in an exhibition match as well, which was an enjoyable and motivating experience. Both the players and the spectators cheered and were excited by his participation.

The tournament’s champions are: Men’s Doubles (Over 50 Years): Dawa Nedup Bhutia and Roshan Subba; Men’s Doubles (Over 40 Years): Dr. Subash Rai and Santosh Rai; Mixed Doubles: Bebek Chettri and Anunaya Rai; Open Men’s Doubles: Subash Rai and Santosh Rai.
