Depending on the weather, plans are being made to use a helicopter to rescue the driver who became lost in the higher peaks, according to the District Commissioner (DC) of North Sikkim. Based on the information provided by the DC, the Indian Army has been asked to help evacuate additional people who are stuck in the area. With the assistance of Army vehicles, those who are not in a dangerous situation can descend.
They will be evacuated via Zeema, Thangu, and Dongkala, which is a route that is known to be secure for military transportation. In response to the district administration’s request, the Indian Army, which is based in the Thangu area, has agreed to assist in relocating the residents to safer locations. Rain and overcast skies have caused North Sikkim’s weather to be erratic in recent days, making air travel challenging and vehicle travel dangerous.
