In response to the recent devastating floods in Tripura, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned financial assistance from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced on Friday that the relief package includes Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives and Rs 50,000 for individuals with serious injuries.
Dr. Saha expressed his gratitude through a Facebook post, thanking PM Modi for the swift and compassionate support. “I am deeply grateful for the assistance! My sincere thanks to Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji for the PMNRF ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those seriously injured,” Dr. Saha stated. He highlighted that this aid is a crucial support for affected families during these difficult times.
The floods, which impacted Tripura from August 19 to 23, triggered an immediate response from the central government. PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah maintained continuous communication with Dr. Saha, overseeing relief operations. This included deploying additional National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, helicopters, and boats to assist in rescue and recovery efforts.
