Digit Life launches glow term plan for self-employed Bengalis, expands presence in Siliguri

Go Digit Life Insurance Limited (Digit Life) has launched its first individual pure term life insurance plan, Digit Glow Term Life Insurance, designed specifically for self-employed individuals. To enhance accessibility, the company has also opened new offices on Sevoke Road in Siliguri and Park Street in Kolkata for seamless customer servicing and agent onboarding.

With 56.5% of West Bengal’s workforce being self-employed, this segment often struggles to secure adequate life insurance due to fluctuating incomes and lack of formal income proof. Digit Life aims to bridge this gap using tech-driven underwriting models that leverage alternative credit parameters for better financial inclusion. The plan offers coverage from ₹10 lakh to ₹1 crore, with add-ons such as accidental death, total and permanent disability, and terminal illness coverage. Customers will also benefit from 15 wellness perks, including free teleconsultations, diagnostic discounts, and elder care programs.

Siliguri, a key trade and business hub in North Bengal, has a thriving self-employed community, including small traders, service professionals, and gig workers. Many face challenges in accessing formal financial products. With its new office in Sevoke Road, Digit Life is well-positioned to cater to this market, ensuring greater insurance penetration and financial security for the city’s growing entrepreneurial workforce. Since inception, Digit Life has covered 5.64 million lives, paid out ₹1.27 billion in claims, and recorded an impressive 488% YoY growth in H1FY25, underscoring its rapid expansion in India’s evolving insurance landscape.
