The fact that firecrackers were set off on the night of Diwali festivities is encouraging, but there was no appreciable effect on the region’s air pollution problem, according to Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva. According to Sachdeva, leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), such as Saurabh Bharadwaj, are forced to oppose Diwali crackers in order to win over the Muslim population and increase their support base. For this reason, they keep causing misunderstandings among the general public on various issues.
The Delhi BJP President stated, “AAP leaders are currently making statements blaming Diwali firecrackers for the slight increase in air pollution and are calling for another ban on them.” The AQI, which climbs every winter, will undoubtedly rise a little this year as well, Sachdeva said. The day after Diwali, on October 31, 2024, Delhi registered a record-breaking AQI of 396 in the morning. According to him, the average AQI for the city was 356 on October 21.
Punjab farmers are clearing their fields and burning stubble due to floods, according to Delhi BJP President Amit Sachdeva. Between October 11 and 19, 2025, 309 major stubble burning incidents were registered in Punjab. Sachdeva criticizes the Arvind Kejriwal-led government for not helping farmers earlier or offering assistance. He also criticizes the Delhi BJP for not taking solid steps to control pollution or improve the situation, arguing that AAP leaders are actively worsening the situation.
