Darjeeling MP Raju Bista says, Politics is a means to serve society’ at BJP District Meeting

Darjeeling Member of Parliament and BJP National Spokesperson Raju Bista on Sunday addressed the BJP Darjeeling District Organizational Meeting held in Darjeeling town. The meeting brought together district-level party leaders, workers, and karyakartas, who gathered to review ongoing initiatives and prepare for the upcoming “Seva Pakhwada”—a nationwide service campaign of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Speaking at the meeting, Bista underlined that the BJP has always stood firm on the guiding principle of Antyodaya, meaning “upliftment of the last person in the queue.” He reiterated that the party’s vision, as articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rests on the foundation of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”—development for all with everyone’s participation.

“For us, politics is not about power or position. It is about service—service to our people and our country. That is why our programs, campaigns, and initiatives are always designed to reach the grassroots level,” Bista said while addressing party workers.

The central agenda of the meeting was preparation for Seva Pakhwada, which the BJP organizes every year to mark the birthday of Prime Minister Modi. During this period, party workers across the country take part in activities like health camps, cleanliness drives, distribution of assistive devices, tree plantation, awareness campaigns, and outreach programs to connect with the community.

In Darjeeling, plans are being made to ensure maximum participation and visibility. Party leaders discussed logistics, coordination, and schedules so that the campaign benefits people in both rural and urban areas. Special focus will be given to healthcare, social service, and youth engagement.

The meeting also served as a review session for ongoing BJP initiatives in the hills, Terai, and Dooars. Bista said that despite resource constraints, the district unit has been able to reach more households, connect with youth, and spread awareness about government schemes. He praised the hard work and resilience of the karyakartas who, he noted, continue to serve selflessly.

“I truly commend the dedication, unity, and passion of our district workers. They are working with very limited resources, yet their tireless efforts are bringing us closer to people and ensuring that the benefits of government programs reach families that need them most,” Bista said.

Throughout his address, Bista repeatedly stressed on unity and service as the core of the BJP’s organizational strength. He urged workers to continue engaging with the community in villages, tea gardens, towns, and remote areas of Darjeeling district.

“We must build together. Our strength lies in standing with our people during their times of need. If we remain united, committed, and connected to the grassroots, no challenge can stop us from fulfilling the collective aspirations of our region,” he said.

The BJP MP also assured that the party will continue to push for programs that address the long-term needs of Darjeeling and its people. This includes youth employment, infrastructure development, better connectivity, and improved social services. He encouraged local units to come forward with ideas and suggestions that reflect the voices of common people.
