Crude oil futures decrease on weak spot demand

New Delhi: Crude oil futures on Monday fell by Rs 102 to Rs 5,498 per barrel as traders offloaded their positions on weak spot demand.

At the Multi-Commodity Exchange, crude oil contracts for September delivery fell by Rs 102, or 1.82 percent, to Rs 5,498 per barrel in a business turnover of 6,275 lots.

Analysts said trimming of positions by traders amid weak spot demand put pressure on prices.

Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude for September contract in New York was trading 0.11 percent higher at $62.87 per barrel, while Brent crude for October contract fell 0.03 percent to $65.83 per barrel.
