The 77th NCC Foundation Day was celebrated with great pride and patriotic enthusiasm at Cotton University, Guwahati, in an event organised by NCC Group Headquarters Guwahati on behalf of the North Eastern Region (NER) Directorate. The celebration highlighted the enduring values of unity, discipline, leadership and showcased the growing role of youth in nation-building.More than 500 cadets from the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings enthusiastically participated, reaffirming NCC’s motto of ‘Unity and Discipline’ and its pivotal contribution to shaping responsible, service-oriented young citizens.The programme commenced with an impressive Guard of Honour, followed by the soulful rendition of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ performed by the girls’ band of St. Mary’s School, Guwahati. The event featured a series of patriotic and cultural performances, including a ballet on Bir Lachit Borphukan, presentations on women empowerment, and an informative ‘Know Your NCC’ stall to enhance awareness among attendees.
Addressing the gathering, Smt Angoorlata Deka, Chairperson, State of Assam Commission for Women, emphasised that the NCC remains one of India’s most impactful youth organisations. She lauded the NCC’s role in instilling leadership qualities, character building, social responsibility, and especially in empowering young girl cadets through diverse activities and opportunities.As NCC marks its 77th year of dedicated service, the celebration at Cotton University reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to nurturing confident, disciplined, and socially responsible youth who actively contribute to the nation’s growth and the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
