On Sunday, the Congress retaliated against External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar for his claim that citizens are bringing domestic political issues outside of the country. They claimed that he was appointed to the position by the person who broke the long-standing rule against discussing domestic political issues with foreigners. Last Thursday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Tejasvi Surya spoke at an event she organised in Bengaluru and said, “People from inside our country are taking politics outside and people from outside are interfering with politics inside.”
