On Friday, the Congress said it was time for the party to take on the task of fostering opposition unity in a “systematic approach,” praising statements made by opposition leaders criticising Rahul Gandhi’s expulsion from the Lok Sabha.
The grand old party also claimed that it had been cooperating with various opposition groups in Parliament and that it now needed to do so outside of the two Houses as well.
Following Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha due to his conviction in a defamation case by a Gujarat court on Friday, leaders of nearly all opposition parties rallied around him and accused the BJP of engaging in “vindictive politics.”
