The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports’ intention to submit a bid to host the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2030 was accepted by the Union Cabinet, which is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The signature of the Host Collaboration Agreement (HCA), the required grant-in-aid to the Gujarat government, and the required assurances from the pertinent ministries, departments, and agencies were also approved by the cabinet in the event that the proposal was accepted. Seventy-two countries will send competitors to the Commonwealth Games.
In addition, a significant number of athletes, coaches, technical officials, visitors, and media representatives will visit India during the Games, bringing in money and helping out local companies. Ahmedabad is a perfect host city, according to the Union cabinet, with top-notch stadiums, state-of-the-art training facilities, and an enthusiastic sports culture. The world’s largest stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium, proved its worth when it hosted the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Final.
The bid to host CWG 2030 was previously accepted by the Indian Olympic Association at its Special General Meeting (SGM), which took place in New Delhi on August 13. The IOA has until August 31 to submit the final bid plan after submitting an Expression of Interest to host the CWG 2030. The General Assembly of Commonwealth Sport will choose the final host nation for the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow during the last week of November. In 2010, India played host to the Commonwealth Games, which were held in New Delhi.
