Both Houses Conclude Session Following Passage of Controversial MGNREGA Replacement Bill

The Indian Parliament concluded its Winter Session 2025 today, with both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha adjourning sine die. The session recorded a high productivity of 111%, passing ten major government bills. The most significant and debated legislative move was the passage of the VB-G RAM G Bill, which officially replaces the 20-year-old MGNREGA scheme. Despite intense protests and a late-night dharna (sit-in) by Opposition leaders, the government moved to modernize rural employment by integrating skill-based training and a 125-day work guarantee.
