‘Bijoyar Pore’ won the Special Audience Award at the Dhaka International Film Festival

The Dhaka International Film Festival concluded on January 29, with ‘Bijoyar Pore’ receiving the Special Audience Award at the closing event, a nine-day festival featuring 250 films from 72 countries, causing celebrations in Bengal’s cultural circles. It is to be noted that two actresses, Mamata Shankar and Swastika Mukherjee, met Bangladesh Ganobhaban as representatives of the film ‘Bijoyar Pore’ at the invitation of the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, accompanied by Ms. Sharmila Tagore, a member of the festival jury board. Following its nomination in the Bengal Panorama category at the Kolkata International Film Festival, ‘Bijoyar Pore’, a West Bengal film, received a nomination in the World Cinema category at the Dhaka International Film Festival. Additionally, the movie has already received nominations for several film festivals in Dubai, Telangana, Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. Since its premiere, the movie has gotten fantastic reviews from viewers. Among other venues, Nandan and Nazrul Tirth in Kolkata are hosting full-house screenings of the movie.

Notably, Siliguri city is home to both the film’s director, Abhijit Sridas, and producer, Sujit Raha; consequently, there is particularly excited anticipation for the movie in this area. Perhaps this is the first full-length Bengali movie produced in the mainstream of this region. According to Mr. Sujit Raha, the evening screening of the film mirrored the enormous excitement that was evident among the nation’s audiences prior to its premiere in Dhaka, with twice as many people waiting outside the cinema even though it was full. The festival committee’s director, Ahmed Mustafa Jamal, made a particular mention of the viewers during the closing ceremony.

Renowned actors such as Mishka Halim, Padmanav Dasgupta, Tanika Basu, Bimal Giri, Mir Afsar Ali, Swastika Mukherjee, Kheya Chattopadhyay, Mamata Shankar, and Bidipta Chakraborty played notable roles in the film. Sandeep Jaiswal and Abhishek Roy did an excellent job on the costumes and makeup for the movie, which stars Prosenjit Bandyopadhyay and Ranjoy Bhattacharya. Shaoni Majumdar and Lagnajita Chakraborty both provided voices for the movie.
