‘Bharat’ instead of ‘India’ for G20 summit

On Saturday, New Delhi is hosting the opening ceremony for G20 summit in the country. Modi uses ‘Bharat’ nameplate instead of ‘India’ for the opening ceremony amid name change controversy.

As per reports, he sat behind a table nameplate that read “Bharat”, while the G20 logo had both names – “Bharat” written in Hindi and “India” in English.

Further, while speaking during the ceremony Modi said “Bharat welcomes the delegates as the President of the G20” raising speculation of a change of name for the South Asian nation.
