Siliguri, May 28: In a significant action, Bhakti Nagar police conducted a raid at a house in Shastri Nagar, Ward No. 41 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), resulting in the arrest of 11 people red-handed gambling.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ganesh Singh, Kailash Gurung, Ramesh Sharma, Ajay Subba, Amar Limbu, Jitendra Singh, Himal Mahato, Manoj Gupta and Tika Dhamaal and Rahul Mishra. Reportedly this house belongs to Prakash Singh, who was also caught.
According to sources, acting on a tip-off about anti-social activities in the house, SI Rantu Halder led the raid and successfully nabbed the suspects in the act. Apart from this, the police also seized more than Rs 42,000 in cash and several incriminating items from the gambling venue.
Meanwhile, the police registered a case against all the accused under relevant legal sections and produced them in the Jalpaiguri court on Tuesday.
