Bengal Himalayan Carnival 2026 to Spotlight North Bengal’s Hills, Culture and Adventure

The Bengal Himalayan Carnival 2026 will be held from January 30 to February 1 to promote North Bengal’s sub-Himalayan region as a unified tourism destination. The three-day event, now in its sixth edition, will span the foothills and hills of Chalsa (Jalpaiguri), Loleygaon (Kalimpong) and Sittong (Darjeeling).
Organised by the Himalayan Hospitality and Tourism Development Network (HHTDN) in association with the Bengal tourism department, Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) and the Nepal Tourism Board, the carnival will focus on nature-based, rural and sustainable tourism. For the first time, the Nepal Tourism Board is joining as an international partner, marking a step towards cross-border Himalayan tourism collaboration.
The carnival will showcase offbeat destinations, adventure tourism, local cuisine, intangible cultural heritage and community-led tourism models. Activities will include marathons, mountain biking, birdwatching trails, forest treks, camping, canopy walks and traditional archery.
A key attraction will be a rural tourism business meet, bringing together tour operators, homestay owners, adventure operators and tourism entrepreneurs to build market linkages and investment opportunities.
