Bangladesh has inaugurated its first Smart Textile Hub near Dhaka, aiming to lead in wearable tech and sustainable clothing. This state-backed initiative will support garment factories integrating sensors, biodegradable fabrics, and AI-based production lines.
The hub will collaborate with South Korean and European partners and is expected to generate over 15,000 high-tech jobs by 2027. Officials say this is Bangladesh’s shift from labor-intensive exports to innovation-led manufacturing.
Indian and Nepali garment manufacturers are also showing interest in similar upgrades, seeking partnerships with Dhaka’s tech incubators to adopt smart apparel innovations.
