Australia’s Green Push: World’s Largest Solar Farm Begins Construction

Australia has begun construction of what is expected to become the world’s largest solar farm in the Northern Territory. The “SunLink Project” will cover over 12,000 hectares and generate up to 20 gigawatts of power—enough to supply electricity to both Australia and Singapore via undersea cable.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called it a “milestone in clean energy transition,” saying it will create thousands of jobs and help the nation meet its goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.

The project, worth nearly $25 billion, is backed by international investors, including companies from Japan and India. Experts believe it will set a model for renewable cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Indian renewable energy ministry has expressed interest in collaborating, seeing potential in shared solar technology and power export strategies.
