Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, has inaugurated Eastern India’s first Biplane Cath Lab in the private sector, a facility set to transform advanced cardiac, neurological and vascular care. The launch event was held in Siliguri, highlighting the hospital’s outreach to the region. The Biplane Cath Lab, equipped with two C-arms, enables simultaneous X-ray imaging from multiple angles, giving doctors a detailed 3D view of organs and blood vessels. This cutting-edge system facilitates minimally invasive treatments with greater precision, reducing risks and recovery times for patients with strokes, heart disease and vascular complications.
Dr Surinder Singh Bhatia, Director Medical Services, Apollo Hospitals, Kolkata, said the new technology marks a “big step towards advanced and precise healthcare,” while senior cardiac surgeon Dr Sushan Mukhopadhyay termed it a “game changer” for both doctors and patients. Neurologist Dr Amitabha Ghosh and cardiologist Dr Debasis Ghosh added that the facility sets a new benchmark in the region’s healthcare standards.
In Siliguri, the development has been welcomed as a crucial healthcare advancement. Local medical practitioners and patient groups said access to such world-class treatment nearby will reduce dependence on long-distance travel to metro cities, easing both costs and emotional burden for families. With this launch, Apollo reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Eastern India, ensuring that patients receive world-class care closer to home.
