Apollo Hospitals collaborates with US innovator for surgeon training

Boston Scientific, a globally renowned US-based organisation, is joining hands with Apollo Multispecialty Hospitals, Kolkata, to provide training to doctors from India and abroad on laser and transoral surgery. The inaugural workshop, the first of its kind in the country, will be held on July 29 and 30, 2023.

The training workshop, ‘Global Mentorship Programme for Advanced CO2 Laser and Transoral Surgery’, has been initiated by Boston Scientific under the guidance of Dr. Shantanu Panja, an internationally acclaimed ENT specialist at Apollo Hospitals, Kolkata. CO2 Laser Surgery is a specialized technique used for various ear, nose, throat, voice box, and larynx diseases. It offers precision surgery with minimal tissue damage, resulting in quick recovery and reduced morbidity.

 CO2 Laser Surgery is now the workhorse for laryngeal, vocal cord surgeries worldwide. Dr. Panja said, “Through this training programme, we want the benefits of modern medicine to reach more people across the country.”The initiative aims to train surgeons from various countries and abroad to provide laser surgical services in their institutes, promoting cancer-free lives.
