Allu Kanakaratnam, the wife of legendary actor and Padma Shri Allu Ramalingaiah, the paternal grandmother of Allu Arjun, and the maternal grandmother of Ram Charan, passed away at the age of 94 from age-related illnesses. Allu Arjun was spotted traveling from Mumbai to Hyderabad after learning of the news, and Chiranjeevi posted a heartfelt message on social media. Chiranjeevi posted a heartfelt message on X (previously Twitter) over his mother-in-law’s unexpected passing. “Our mother-in-law…,” he wrote. It is very tragic that Kanakarathnamma Garu, Sri Allu Ramalingayya Garu’s wife, passed away. We will always be inspired by the love, bravery, and morals she demonstrated to our family. Due to age-related illnesses, Allu Kanakaratnam passed away early on Saturday morning at 1:45 AM. Her final ceremonies are scheduled later this afternoon in Kokapet, according to a story in 123 Telugu. Ram Charan, her grandson, was in Mysore filming his next film, Peddi, but he left the set to go back to Hyderabad to be with his family during this trying time. Allu Arjun, who was also in Mumbai for Atlee’s movie, was spotted traveling from Mumbai to Hyderabad to give his grandmother his final respects. Her mortal remains are being held at the home of her son, Allu Aravind, so that friends and family can pay their respects.
Allu Arjun and his grandma had a strong relationship. The actor was arrested and brought home from jail the next morning in December 2024 after he became involved in a brawl when a fan died in Hyderabad after the Pushpa 2: The Rule launch. Upon his return home, his grandma was observed becoming emotional and engaging in a ceremony to protect him from the actor’s evil eye.
