According to FSSAI guidelines, food items with deceptive “ORS” labels must be removed

Fruit-based beverages, ready-to-serve drinks, energy drinks, electrolyte drinks, and similar goods that utilize the term “ORS” in their brand names or product names must be removed immediately, according to an order issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Even though prior orders have already revoked authority to use the term “ORS” for such drinks, the FSSAI claimed that these items are being marketed in physical stores and online.

No food product, whether fruit-based, non-carbonated, or ready-to-drink, may contain the term “ORS” in the trademarked name or in any form, including as a prefix or suffix, according to FSSAI’s earlier orders from October 14 and the clarification published on October 15. It is against the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006 to use the phrase in this manner. The FSSAI observed that many of these items are still offered under names that contain “ORS” in spite of these directives.
