As the festive spirit approaches, the Navi Mumbai Bengali Association (NMBA) Vashi is preparing for its 45th Durga Puja celebration, themed “PEACE,” from October 9-13, 2024. This cherished event, hailed as the largest Durga Puja in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), is set to bring together families and friends in a joyous embrace of tradition and community. Ashim Dey, a member of NMBA, emphasizes the significance of this year’s theme in fostering unity and harmony within the community.
This year’s decorations, crafted from exquisite full white Sola wood, create a serene and breathtaking atmosphere, symbolizing peace and harmony. The striking white color enveloping the iconic Goddess Durga reminds attendees of her power to vanquish evil while inspiring non-violence and mutual respect among people.
At the heart of the celebration will be an awe-inspiring 18-foot idol of Goddess Durga, skillfully fashioned by talented artisans from West Bengal using biodegradable soil sourced from the banks of the Ganges. Hosted at the CIDCO Exhibition Centre in Vashi, which spans an impressive 1.50 lakh square feet, the event is anticipated to attract over 800,000 devotees. NMBA Vashi’s Durga Puja 2024 promises to be a heartwarming gathering, uniting the community in a shared celebration of peace, love, and cultural heritage.
