The order was issued to seal all cross borders for 72 hours from February 25 to February 27 as per standard operating procedures of the Election Commission of India.
Despite the sealing of the border, people of Dimapur continued to shop at Sunday Market, Dilai Gate, Karbi Anglong Assam to procure their daily needs. Vehicles are not allowed in Assam. However, the vehicles were parked near the inter-state check gate and Dimapur residents continued their marketing.
As per the order, the movement of essential commodities and other emergency services vehicles was allowed by registering the details of vehicles and persons in the vehicles.
